Deciding to surrender your dog can be very emotional and difficult for both you and your dog. We appreciate that you looked to rescue for help. Mountain High Collie and Sheltie Rescue would like to make that decision and the surrender process as easy as possible. We work with families surrendering their dog to ensure that it is really their decision, without any pressure from anyone in our rescue.
All dogs that come into MHCSR are vet checked, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical conditions and put on heartworm preventative before the adoption process begins. Information that can be provided at the time of surrender is extremely important in the adoption process in order to help make a good match for the dog’s forever home. Surrendered dogs are cared for in foster care in the private homes of MHCSR volunteers. All dogs stay in foster care until a suitable home is found.
We want this transition to be as painless and easy as possible for you and your dog. Please do not hide any medical conditions from us. Honesty is the best policy! Thank you for providing thorough and accurate information. Also let us know how quickly you need to surrender your dog and we will work as quickly as possible with our foster program to see who is available. Your flexibility is greatly appreciated.
If you wish to entrust MHCSR by surrendering your collie or sheltie please complete the form and hit submit. We also request that you send us a recent photo of the dog that you wish to relinquish to firstname.lastname@example.org. One of our volunteers will be back in touch with you.
