Welcome to Mountain High Collie and Sheltie Rescue (MHCSR) and thank you for visiting our website. This is a New Beginning for all of us and we hope your experience with us will be a pleasant and rewarding one. We are not new to rescue as all of us have volunteered for many years with previous rescues before forming MHCSR. This has been an enormous undertaking to make sure we have everything in place, and without our dedicated volunteer base, we could not have been able to open our doors to rescue these beautiful and deserving collies and shelties.
We hope that you will find our website informative and helpful as you tour our site. We have many policies and requirements before you can be considered to adopt one of our dogs but I hope you will understand why. Our sole purpose is to find the right match for dogs in our program after we have prepared him or her for their forever home.
Dogs come into rescue for many reasons. For example their owner may have passed away suddenly or the dog developed behavioral issues over time because of being left alone for so many hours without human interaction. Some come from shelters that we partner with that are strays or owner surrenders. Whatever the reason, we will not turn a dog away for age or health reasons. If all owners kept their dogs and provided them with a good home until they passed, spayed or neutered instead of breeding their dog to have that one litter of cute puppies, dog rescues and shelters would not have to exist. However, the sad reality is we have become a society that does not hold that high of a value on their 4-legged companions.
We are the voice of these dogs and we work together to find them exceptional homes where they will be loved and cared for the rest of their life no matter what. So when you read through our adoption application and other requirements please understand that some of these dogs have been through a lot already and deserve that chance of happiness with that exceptional forever home.
All of us at MHCSR look forward to visiting with you and if we can answer any questions for you prior to submitting your application please click on Contact Us to the right for more information on reaching us. We are an all volunteer based rescue, we have no paid staff members and many of us have other jobs or family that also need our attention so please be patient and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help and be part of the team at MHCSR please go to our Foster Requirement/Application Tab to see if you might be a good fit. If you are unable to foster we have lots of other ways you can help located under the How You Can Help Tab. Donations of any amount are always welcomed and very much appreciated.
